1982 – 2021: The beginning
The foundation of fire started – not a story that started with sparks, rather with a commitment of efficiency, reliability and precision. Operating out of the UK, the team was tasked with designing, and manufacturing equipment that is not just purpose built, but built with quality – the motto “simply built better”. Over nearly four decades, Addfield joined forces with various other industry professionals and experts, bringing innovation, knowledge, and purpose, growing steadily into the global leader of thermal treatment.
2022: From vision to mission
With over 40 years of vast experience in pet cremation, waste incineration, and bespoke large energy generation solutions, we were invited to channel our expertise into something transformative: the electric human cremator.
A challenge well accepted! With global sustainability as the focus, the team started the first steps toward designing a fully electric cremator. What was the drive behind this technology? Our communities, our environment, our customers and their customers, making it accessible, clean and efficient, reducing the environmental footprint without sacrificing performance.
2023: Beyond the blueprint
The team dove deep into all available data and feedback from existing Crematorium sites. Hundreds of hours were spent analysing and understanding every detail of current operations and technologies.
Then we focused on the reimagining. Focusing on the important detail, of “what should electric cremation look like”, rather on “what is currently on offer”. With this vision the team spent countless hours designing and building the electric cremator, and the results far exceeded even what we envisioned, it’s beyond doubt that we were very excited for what the future holds.
2024: Where theory met practice
Using advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD), we simulated the airflow, temperature control and emissions down the last molecule, and so the first working full sized model is manufactured, ready to go through rigorous testing, to prove our calculations, and theory.
The results proved that this electric cremator was not just innovative – it is robust, efficient, and built to last.
2025 : Meet ‘Aurora’ – the all-new electric cremator
We proudly unveil ‘Aurora” to the world. Following the impressive results ‘Aurora” delivered on features like cremation time, pre-heat time, and maintenance faster than the existing electric cremator alternatives in the market. With final testing complete, our 1st installation is set for Q3 this year. And so, our vision is now a reality.
