Pets are respectfully placed into secure containment baskets before being loaded into the primary processing chamber. Constructed entirely from high-grade stainless steel, the system is built for durability and long-term performance. A heavy-duty locking mechanism, combined with advanced sealing technology, ensures a secure, watertight environment throughout the cycle.

The fully automated PLC control system manages every stage of the process, including chamber heating, temperature regulation, and continuous water recirculation. This intelligent operation maximises efficiency while maintaining optimal processing conditions.

Upon completion of the cycle, the system is cooled and safely drained. The remaining bone material is then carefully removed, dried, and prepared for final processing through the Addfield Remains Processor, producing a clean, consistent ash suitable for return to pet owners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Flame cremation utilises fossil fuels and intense heat to cremate animals.Water cremation utilises electricity as its primary energy source and is generally regarded as the more environmentally responsible alternative.

The process typically takes around six hours, consisting of a one-hour preheat period, a three-hour processing cycle, a one-hour cooling and draining period, and a 30-minute post-processing stage (excluding drying).

The remains are typically less porous than those produced through flame cremation and therefore tend to retain more weight. The remains also have to be dried separately before the water cremation process. They are also typically much whiter in appearance than remains produced through flame cremation.

The process provides exceptionally clean remains from the water cremation process. A by-product of the process is effluent water, which must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Loading: Animals are placed carefully in their respective chambers
Utilities: Consumable waste treatments chemicals are placed inside the machine
Preheating: Water is preheated to the required temperature
Cremation: The animals are processed.
Draindown: The effluent water is removed and the remains are carefully washed automatically
De-ashing: Remains are moved
Post processing: The remains are dried and are processed through a remains processor

All cremation processes carry inherent risks, and every site is different. It is important to develop and implement your own health and safety procedures and risk assessments. As with flame cremation, appropriate PPE should be worn and suitable biosecurity protocols implemented at all times. The key difference with Aqua-Resomation is that the process uses a strong alkaline solution, which requires additional PPE and handling procedures to ensure safe operation.

There are many different brand names associated with this process. Fundamentally, at there core, they all describe the same process. Addfield's machine is one of the few pressurised, commercially available units.
